I read somewhere that if the PA was used to justify the way that Ashton was arrested and incarcerated, that the Police would not be in a position to admit it. Ashton's mother also says that it was only after much publicity that the prosecutors provided answers to some basic questions.

There is also the case of Jose Padilla which is very disturbing. Padilla was arrested under the Patriot Act and labeled an enemy combatant. With that he was basically stripped of his citizenship. I just can't believe that we don't have enough laws on the books to handle a case like Padilla's without having to use an extra-constitutional statute like the Patriot Act.

It's high time to begin to roll back some of the excesses that occurred after 9/11, and eliminating the anti-constitutional PA should be right at the top of the list.Frank Hopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01610256051568976952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4030388666382918203.post-34099939483502584172009-05-19T01:11:00.000-04:002009-05-19T01:11:00.000-04:00I've recently had Ashton's case brought to my atte...I've recently had Ashton's case brought to my attention. I agree that there's something flawed with the current system and the things the police are allowed to do in order to arrest someone. I do believe that Ashton was arrested under the Patriot Act; the police's denial is probably just a cover-up because of the bad publicity they've been getting. At least that's my theory. I think what we do now will shape the future of America and determine whether or not it will become a safer place to live.Rebekah Prudhommehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10387716121075984818noreply@blogger.com
